The North River Arts Society currently has their m The North River Arts Society currently has their members show at the G. A. R. Hall, 157 Old Main Street, Marshfield Hills, MA, for another week! “Embellished” received the Marian Atkinson Award for Soft Pastel. I want to thank Michael Rose for the award and his lovely comments below… “The softness of the subject in this image is conveyed beautifully through the masterful use of pastel. Whether in soft planes of color or in the more specific line work, the piece is full of contrasts that show off the breadth of the medium. This image also rewards repeated looks and close inspection.” #northriverartssociety #providenceartsclub #milkweedandmonarchs #pastelartíst #softpastelpaintings
“Ascension” is the first abstract I have entered i “Ascension” is the first abstract I have entered in a show, so it was quite a surprise to learn it was awarded the Best Pastel in the Copley Society of Art’s members exhibition. Thanks to Michael Rose, gallerist based in Providence RI and manager of the historic Providence Arts Club. Below is the call description. The show ends this Saturday so if you are in the area of Newbury Street in Boston, it is worth a peek! Fantastical Realities explores the junction between imagination and lived experience. It considers how artists construct worlds that blur boundaries between what is real and what is invented. Co|So invites you to venture past the familiar and into incredible, transformed, or dream-like spaces. Artists were encouraged to interpret this theme broadly, from surreal landscapes and legendary narratives to quiet distortions of everyday environments. In uncertain and rapidly changing times, imagined realities create a space for reflection, critique, escape, or possibility. This exhibition, juried by Michael Rose, invites viewers to experience a new reality, one shaped through artistic vision. #copleysocietyofart #abstractartofinsta #schminkepastels #pastelandgesso #pastelartistofinstagram

My first, one and only IAPS convention in Albuquer My first, one and only IAPS convention in Albuquerque NM was a fab experience beginning with the wonderful “Jam Session”workshop with Diana Sanford @sanford.studio and her assistant @cory.goulet.1 ! Practice for my brain’s creative right hemisphere - let’s see where this goes! I highly recommend it!! Then a trip to Santé Fe to tour the Georgia O’Keefe museum-no pics inside but these hollyhocks were a delight. A ride on the tram to the top of the Sandia Mountains (means watermelon cause they are pink!) and some plein air painting with @greg_sandford_pastel …so fun … except for maybe hearing a rattlesnake 🫣 in the shrubs between us! Probably just a bug🤞🏻 The banquet was a wonderful way to end a fabulous week as I was awarded my Master Circle medallion ❣️ #iaps_pastel #pastelworkshop #sandiamountain #pleinairpastel #iapsmastercircle
